Commission Work and Garden Portraits

Debbie Johnson is a watercolor artist who lives in Oxford, Michigan. She specializes in garden scene, floral paintings and garden portraits. She is available to paint a portrait of your Michigan garden spring through fall.

Debbie is a gardener also, and is very appreciative of the opportunity to view, sketch and paint the many beautiful gardens in the Michigan area.

She creates her paintings from photo references, on-site sketches, and notes taken during the initial visit to the garden. Paintings are not photos or exact reproductions, however, Debbie attempts to capture the mood and beauty of the garden through vibrant colors, striking contrasts, and interesting composition.

Debbie's paintings reflect the inspiration and mood she experiences in the garden.

The creation of a piece of artwork is a very personal experience and while trying to fit the garden owners desires the finished piece will be a statement of Debbie's interpretation of the scene. Information provided by the garden owner will, however, enhance the piece and help to execute the intentions of the work as much as possible.
